Miss Dorabelle Tootle of Calfshire County was born under a blood moon, raised on root vegetables, and destined for greatness from the hips down. With legs forged by mystery and quadriceps that defied all known textiles, Dorabelle was more than a lady—she was a landmark.
Doctors were baffled. Dressmakers were terrified. Marble sculptors wept openly in her presence. And yet, Dorabelle never once considered her legs an inconvenience. “One must be grounded,” she famously quipped, “especially when one is capable of cracking cobblestone with a brisk stroll.”
The gentleman beside her—Mr. Theodore Bunting of no particular repute—was a lifelong admirer of Dorabelle’s strength, style, and unflinching ability to high-kick through mahogany. While he played a quiet clarinet, she toured the vaudeville circuit as “The Thunderthigh Temptress of Turnip Row.”
This portrait was commissioned on the eve of their engagement, after Theodore bravely survived three formal dances and a celebratory potato sack race in her honor.
