Winslow Thaddeus Featherbrush was a man of extremes—extreme intellect, extreme sideburns, and extremely uncomfortable hats. Hailing from San Antonio, Texas, Winslow’s skull began expanding at age 11 following a lightning strike and an unfortunate encounter with a book of forbidden knowledge titled “Pythagoras for the Prepared.”
By 17, his brainwaves interfered with telegraphs for a three-county radius. By 20, he could levitate toast (but not butter it). The mutton chops, however, were all-natural—a genetic marvel that required their own valet and occasionally whispered Latin phrases when startled.
Locals referred to him as “The Texas Brainstorm,” and visitors often left his presence with spontaneous epiphanies or mild nosebleeds. He declined offers from universities, carnivals, and traveling circuses alike, stating only, “I am not a sideshow. I am a sideburns show.”
This portrait was taken mere minutes before he solved chess.
