Behold: Lady Constance Velveteen Barrow, heiress to the Great Davenport Fortune and sole survivor of the Upholstery Accords of 1877. As part of an ancient pact with the Order of the Ornate Armrest, Constance was gifted both power and padding beyond mortal comprehension.

Born with a naturally reclining aura and a spine made entirely of mahogany nerve, she never walked—only glided backward into rooms while offering unsolicited critiques on lumbar support. Her horns were believed to be decorative, but several fainting guests insisted otherwise.

Rumor has it she could sense discomfort at 30 paces, and once hissed at a man for calling her a “chaise longue.” She was not a chaise. She was a reckoning.

This photo was taken shortly before she was appointed Keeper of Parlors and Guardian of the Velvet Gate. When asked her greatest ambition, she simply replied:
"To be sat upon only by the worthy."
